Transmitter switching console

This console is located at the transmitter site in New Jersey. It may be used for local or remote control operation, allowing either the Collins 20V-2 or the Gates BC-1T to be put on the air by remote control. For safety reasons, the Collins 20V may only be put on the air by local control. During operation by remote control, a fail-safe circuit will completely turn off the transmitter 45 seconds after the failure of the remote control telco link.

All transmitters that are not feeding the antenna are automatically dumped into dummy loads. An interlock prevents an unwanted transmitter from being turned on, either by local or remote control. To test a transmitter into its dummy load, a key switch is used to disable the interlock.
